Simone Coccia

For me, art is not merely an act of observation, but a vital response to the noise of modern life. Working primarily with oil paint and adding a textured touch using palette knives, I sculpt thick, tactile layers onto the canvas, capturing the elusive threshold where intense kinetic energy meets absolute calm. My work explores a singular, profound theme: finding stillness in a moving world. This duality is deeply rooted in my lifelong relationship with the ocean.

As an experienced surfer and diver, I have spent decades navigating the elements, developing a deep reverence for the ocean’s vast, untamed power and its parallel capacity for meditative quiet. The textured, atmospheric cityscapes and powerful equine subjects are born from this same fluid energy—freezing fleeting moments of motion into enduring spaces of reflection.

Driven by the core belief that "Art will save the world," I view my creative practice as a space for environmental stewardship and global awareness. For me, this responsibility is intimately tied to the sea. I operate under a lifelong commitment to the protection and preservation of the ocean, an ethos that actively guides my creative vision and shapes the long-term mission of my artistic platform. Every canvas is an invitation to slow down, connect with the fluid energy of our planet, and join in the collective responsibility of preserving our world's oceans.
